A bit about me
I have been in the counseling field for over 30 years and have remained a lifelong learner throughout. I have many evidence-based helping strategies to share with you. I view counseling as a collaborative learning experience, where we explore together and discover ways to bring you a greater sense of well-being and joy.
My approach to therapy
In my sessions, I focus on clients’ strengths and possibilities as we explore ways to move forward and make meaningful changes. I truly believe that we all have the power and capacity to create change in our lives, handle stress, and learn to be our own best friend.
I integrate several therapeutic approaches. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (reframing thoughts to achieve better outcomes) and Internal Family Systems, which works with conflicting inner parts. Addressing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the effects of developmental trauma has been a focus of my practice and training for many years.
In recent years, I have also specialized in Couples Counseling. I love working with couples who want a stronger connection or are exploring new directions. I draw on Gottman Couples Therapy principles and Emotionally Focused Therapy to help partners understand each other on a deeper level.
Additionally, I incorporate methods from the latest neuroscience research to promote brain balance, supporting people in calming over-reactive or under-reactive patterns. I have a wealth of experience and remain committed to learning the newest evidence-based practices to help my clients create greater well-being and joy. Thank you for checking out my practice!
